About ISEN

The International Society for ECT and Neurostimulation (ISEN) is a global organization dedicated to advancing the safe, ethical, and effective use of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and other neurostimulation treatments for neuropsychiatric illnesses. Established in 1976, ISEN has grown to become a leading voice in promoting education, training, research, and advocacy in these critical areas of mental health treatment. ISEN’s mission is to promote and strengthen the practice of ECT and other neurostimulation therapies by fostering international collaboration, providing cutting-edge education, and advocating for the highest standards of patient care. Our vision is to improve the lives of patients with severe neuropsychiatric conditions by ensuring access to high-quality, evidence-based neurostimulation treatments.
Key activities that support this mission include:

  • Hosting the ISEN Annual Meeting and Scientific Program
  • Offering world-renowned certification courses in ECT, recognized for excellence and leadership in the field
  • Organizing task forces, webinars, and panels on critical issues related to ECT and neurostimulation therapies
